Workshop Description
This one-day workshop will develop your skills in planning, writing and editing a range of business documents so that they meet the professional standard required by your organisation. It focuses on readability, key messages, logical sequencing of information and the production of clear, concise documents that meet the readers’ (both internal and external) needs. Throughout the workshop you will have the opportunity to review relevant documents and apply the skills learned.

- Identify your main communication purpose
- Focus your documents so that they meet key reader’s needs
- Highlight key, simple messages
- Select an appropriate level of detail
- Identify the appropriate information required in different sections of a document
- Order information in a logical manner
- Apply powerful techniques for writing clearly and concisely
- Use a simple quality control tool to evaluate the effectiveness of your documents and those of others
- Apply systematic proofreading techniques

Who Should Attend
This program is designed for all staff who are involved in writing a variety of workplace documents such as memos, submissions, tenders, letters etc. In addition, the workshop would be of benefit to those staff who review documents and would like to further develop their skills in this area.
Facilitator
Your facilitator will be Sheryl Ward. Sheryl is a qualified teacher and trainer who has had extensive experience teaching business communication skills to adults both in Australia and South East Asia. She has specialised in the area of workplace writing – both public and private sector. Sheryl now runs her own independent training consultancy, Training Works.
