Workshop Description
This workshop focuses on the skills needed for writing clear policy and procedure documentation.
Workshop Outcomes
At the end of this workshop you will be able to:
- Understand the critical role of policy and procedure documentation in an organisation
- Define the key terms: purpose, policy and procedure and state the difference between each
- Understand the different stages of policy development
- Adopt a 3-stage process for writing policy and procedure documents (planning, writing and evaluating )
- Write short, clear policy statements
- Apply standard guidelines for writing clear procedures (eg provide information about goals, present conditions before actions, put one step at a time, be accurate and complete, tell users what should be noticed before responding to an action}
- Apply readability techniques for writing clear procedures (action verbs, active voice, parallel structures, simple language etc)
Workshop Delivery
This one day workshop is divided into two modules: the morning focuses on theory/discussions and case studies while the afternoon session is devoted to action learning where the participants ‘workshop’’ their own documents and peer review others.

Personnel who would like to further develop their skills in writing policy and procedure documents.
Facilitator
Your facilitator will be Ms Sheryl Ward who is a qualified teacher and an experienced trainer (Certificate1V in Workplace Assessment and Training). She has had extensive experience teaching business communication skills to adults both in Australia and South East Asia. She now runs her own independent training consultancy, Training Works.
