Program Description
This one-day program will focus on the skills needed in planning, writing and editing clear but comprehensive court reports, parole reports and associated documentation such as case notes and continuation notes. Throughout the workshop participants will have the opportunity to review sample reports and practise their skills.
Program Outcomes
At the end of this program, you will return to your workplace with:
- An increased understanding of the purpose and context of these reports and the role they play in the legal system
- Improved skills in selecting and highlighting critical information for the report's key readers
- Improved skills in writing in a clear, concise style
- Increased ability to write reports that are professional, objective and evidence-based
- Increased knowledge about organising information so that it is where the reader expects to find it
- Strategies and tools for proofreading systematically
Workshop Delivery
The workshop is largely an interactive one in which sample reports are analysed to highlight key teaching points. Participants will also have the opportunity to apply the knowledge and skills learned by writing a short report based on case study notes.
