DESCRIPTION

This half or one-day workshop will develop your skills in planning, writing, editing and proofreading a range of business documents so that they meet the professional standard required by your organisation. The documents covered include emails, memos, letters and reports.

The workshop focuses on producing clear, concise and correct documents that meet the readers’ needs. Throughout the workshop you will have the opportunity to review relevant documents and apply the skills learned.

This workshop is designed for all people who would like to build their confidence and skills in writing a range of workplace documents.


OUTCOMES

This workshop will assist you to:

  • identify your main communication purpose

  • understand what decision makers want in their documents

  • highlight key messages

  • select information that makes your point without bombarding the reader with too much detail

  • identify the appropriate information required in different sections of a document

  • order information in a logical manner

  • use a simple quality control tool to evaluate the effectiveness of your documents and those of others

  • apply systematic proofreading techniques.


DELIVERY

The half-day workshop covers the principles of good writing and uses emails and memos as case studies. The full-day workshop adds in letters and reports and provides more opportunities to work through case studies and practise using authentic workplace scenarios.
