Polishing your writing skills

Your role as a writer is to assist the reader to navigate your document as efficiently as possible. You need to include only relevant, up-to-date information that is presented as clearly, concisely and as accurately as possible. This half-day workshop takes you through key plain English techniques including:

  • using short paragraphs that highlight their key point

  • writing sentences that don’t ramble

  • sing action verbs that make your writing punchy

  • compiling parallel lists that help your reader see the common thread.

The workshop will also help you identity and avoid the most common proofreading errors. Errors such as using ‘it’s' instead of ‘its’ or ‘affect' instead of ‘effect'  distract your reader and reduce your credibility.
